SCIENTIFIC OR SURVEY OBJECTIVES:
  • MVP surveys of AZMP sections
  • Equipment tests: MVP, Laser Optical Plankton Counter (LOPC), VOPC, portable BOT electric winch, flow-through sampling system
  • Deployment and recovery of Seahorse and engineering moorings near HL2
  • Conduct surveys for the Atlantic Zonal Monitoring Program (AZMP): CTD, phytoplankton and zooplankton survey at HL2 station
  • ADCP and Multifrequency Sonar measurements
  • Recover / service scientific moorings and guard buoys at Shelf edge (Halifax line site C), near Sable Island (Thebaud rig) and in Laurentian Channel (French waters)
VOYAGE PROCEDURES AND STATION PATTERN REQUIRED:
    Tests in Bedford Basin
  • Tow MVP at 10-14 knots along Halifax, Louisbourg and Cabot Strait lines and other selected sections
  • Vertical profiles with VOPC on stations on Shelf, Emerald Basin and on grid stations centered at HL2
  • On station sampling at Hfx Station 2 (HL2): CTD, water sampling, ring nets
  • Seahorse moorings deployment/recovery near HL2
  • Service moorings at site C on Scotian Shelf and at site LC in Laurentian Channel
  • Recover ADCP mooring near Sable Island (Thebaud rig site)
  • CTD profiles along Halifax Slope section, in Gully and in Laurentian Channel
